About PWA LTI

PWA/LTI is the People Living with HIV/AIDS Leadership Training Institute.

A program of Cicatelli Associates Inc., the PWA LTI is supported by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the New York State Department of Health, AIDS Institute.

Designed to educate and motivate our fellow people living with HIV/AIDS (PWHA) to become more effective advocates—for ourselves and for our communities—all LTI trainings are co-facilitated by trainers living with HIV/AIDS.

  • a safe space in which to explore individual leadership strengths and goals
  • support for developing leadership in our own health care and in the AIDS community
  • problem solving skills to address real health care and community issues
  • a stronger voice in determining what HIV-related services are needed
  • an increased sense of personal empowerment!
The PWA LTI currently offers two different Self-Management Trainings, one for PWHA adults and the other available only for young adult PWHA, ages 18-24

These workshops focus on Part A of the federal Ryan White program and its mandate for communities to identify local needs and set priorities for funding. PWA LTI, a division of Cicatelli Associates Inc. (CAI), was developed through a partnership between the New York City Department of Health and the New York State Department of Health/AIDS Institute and those living with HIV/AIDS. This training instills the motivation for those living with HIV to become effectively involved in community planning as HIV policy advocates.

Our community needs more leaders working for positive change.
