Surveillance
A core function of the
Region IV Infertility Prevention Project (IPP) is to
collect and report Prevalence Monitoring data on chlamydia
and gonorrhea testing and positivity conducted throughout
eight southeastern States, or Project Areas:
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North
Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
This information is collected by each
Project Area according to national data standards, and
collated by the Regional Infrastructure (Cicatelli
Associates Inc.) for submission to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC). The data are included in
CDC’s
Chlamydia Surveillance Supplement Annual Report, and
shared within the Region and Project Areas on an ongoing
basis in order to support program evaluation and monitoring
efforts.
