VHS video (1 hr., 22 min.), guide, & curriculum  -  The '5A's' is an evidence-based method of intervention used by clinicians to identify pregnant smokers and provide them with support in trying to quit. Smoking Cessation During Pregnancy trainings examine the effects of smoking during pregnancy, techniques for intervening with pregnant smokers, and practical considerations regarding the implementation of the 5A's in a clinical setting. This training package provides trainers with everything they need to train providers in how to use the 5A's intervention with clients. The package consists of a training curriculum, a training videotape with video guide, a consumer videotape, and a CD containing PowerPoint slides for presentation and links to online resources.

VHS video & guide  -  This video and guide were made to help women in prison who are about to make the journey from inside to life outside. Because this time of transition is full of challenges, difficulties, and opportunities, it makes sense for these women to plan ahead to make sure they get the best possible health care when they need it. The booklet can be used by a woman to record information about her health and will also help her find health care providers and other important community resources.

manual  -  While many health care providers feel threatened by managed care, it is also an opportunity to form new alliances, gain new patients, and improve the quality of care provided to patients. This manual for health care providers is intended as a primer. It provides an introduction to managed care contracting to help you succeed in a managed care environment. It covers evaluating whether or not to enter into the managed care world and who to contract with, determining what you bring to a managed care organization, contracting and contract management, and analyzing your success with each managed care contract.

manual  -  This handbook is designed to empower HIV/AIDS social service boards, executives, managers, and quality improvement staff members by helping organizations demonstrate the real, lasting impact of their programs and services on the lives of their clients. An introduction to outcomes management, the handbook has two primary purposes:

• to help social service organizations establish realistic and practical systems for measuring program outcomes.
• to help program managers utilize the outcomes data to improve program management and results.

manual - This manual was developed by The Region II Male Involvement Advisory Committee to provide guidance to programs that plan to develop or enhance clinical services for male clients. The guidelines define the scope of male sexual and reproductive health services and set standards for their content and design.  Furthermore, they bring together in one place a wide range of prevention, health education and treatment issues related to male health and sexual function. 

Improved medical treatment for HIV/AIDS has resulted in improved health and increased life expectancy for people living with HIV/AIDS (PWHAs). This outcome has also created a challenge for PWHAs and their healthcare teams.  That challenge is to help PWHAs maintain risk reduction and health promoting behaviors over a long period of time. Finding ways to support PWHAs in reducing behaviors that may result in the transmission of HIV has become a critical task for clinicians.

Why is it Important to Integrate HIV risk reduction with PWHAs into routine care at every clinical visit?

• Clinicians and other healthcare staff see their patients on a regular basis. This provides an opportunity to address this issue in the course of routine care.
• Risk reduction can help optimize health outcomes for the patient by reducing the incidence of STDs, co-infections such as TB and HepC, and reducing the risk of acquiring other strains of HIV including treatment-resistant strains.
• Improved risk reduction can lead to decreased HIV transmission and decreased incidence of HIV overall.
• Clinicians can be particularly influential in addressing health issues with patients including behavior change.

This booklet was written to provide People with HIV/AIDS (PWHA) with basic information about mental health issues. Although people are inter­ested in hearing about and discussing mental health topics, the stigma attached to these issues can make it difficult for people to ask questions or get the information they need. 

The information presented in this booklet is NOT meant to be presented as mental health counseling or as treatment for mental health problems. The purpose is informational. The goal of this booklet is to provide basic information on:

• mental health
• issues related to how mental health is viewed
• signs and symptoms of common mental health problems
• how PWHAs can care for their own mental health
• how to help other PWHAs improve and maintain their emotional well being.
