The
Office of Population Affairs (OPA), DHHS, is pleased to announce
the availability of a new publication, Healthy People 2010
-- Reproductive Health. This document is a companion piece
to Healthy People 2010 and compiles the background information
and tracking methods for the 72 objectives related to reproductive
health. The topic of reproductive health is covered in 12
of the original 28 focus areas in HP 2010. Because this area
of health care and related educational program incorporates
a wide range of services, many of the other 16 focus areas
and objectives are indirectly influenced (for example, disability,
heart disease and stroke, mental health and tobacco use).
The Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) characterizes Family
Planning as one of the "Ten Great Public Health Achievements"
of the 20th century because of its opportunity for prevention
and the impact on morbidity and mortality. Healthy People
2010--Reproductive Health will be a valuable asset to all
family planning and other reproductive health professionals
as they plan for the future healthcare needs of the nation.
The document
was produced with support from a State Family Planning Administrators
(SFPA) Project grant through the Center for Health Training,
Seattle, Washington and is available here for immediate download.
Additional hardcopy versions of this publication may be ordered
through the OPA Clearinghouse at (301) 654-6190.
All
files are in PDF format only.
