Cultural Competency

Goal: To provide a first step in the promotion of cultural competency by identifying major sources of cultural conflict.

Objectives:

·         Define terms relevant to culturally competent clinical services.

·         Explore cognitive, perceptual and other sources of “cultural collisions.”

·         By participating in a cultural simulation, explore feelings evoked when encountering unfamiliar cultures.

·         Rethink their behavior and attitude towards others.
