·         Express the spirit of motivational interviewing when working with clients by paying attention to how they speak to patients.

·         Avoid typical “traps” providers fall into when discussing behavior change with clients.

·         Identify the key tasks in negotiating for behavior change.

·         Develop skills in assisting patients with behavior change by assessing readiness, exploring importance and building confidence.

·         Develop skills in helping clients develop goals, implement strategies and select targets for change.

·         Identify how to implement methods of behavior change in their workplace through strategic action planning.
