HIV/AIDS and Human Rights Goal: To promote the human rights of PWHAs by motivating human rights agencies to integrate HIV/AIDS into their work by providing the opportunity for human rights activists and PWHA advocates to work together. Objectives: · Demonstrate increased knowledge of basic HIV/AIDS information (including epidemiology, transmission and nontransmission, HIV care and treatment issues) by successfully completing an HIV review activity. · List two ways stigma and discrimination impact on PWHAs. · Using case studies, identify human rights and HIV/AIDS issues, and discuss how to apply laws to address these issues. · List two or more benefits of integrating HIV/AIDS issues into their human rights activities. · Using a continuum from least involved to most involved, identify one or more ways HIV advocates and traditional human rights activists can work together to address HIV/AIDS and human right issues. · List two strategies to address internal barriers and external threats to integrating HIV/AIDS with human rights activities and write an action plan for integrating HIV/AIDS with their human rights activities.
