HIV/AIDS and Human Rights

Goal: To promote the human rights of PWHAs by motivating human rights agencies to integrate HIV/AIDS into their work by providing the opportunity for human rights activists and PWHA advocates to work together.

Objectives:

·         Demonstrate increased knowledge of basic HIV/AIDS information (including epidemiology, transmission and nontransmission, HIV care and treatment issues) by successfully completing an HIV review activity.

·         List two ways stigma and discrimination impact on PWHAs.

·         Using case studies, identify human rights and HIV/AIDS issues, and discuss how to apply laws to address these issues.

·         List two or more benefits of integrating HIV/AIDS issues into their human rights activities.

·         Using a continuum from least involved to most involved, identify one or more ways HIV advocates and traditional human rights activists can work together to address HIV/AIDS and human right issues.

·         List two strategies to address internal barriers and external threats to integrating HIV/AIDS with human rights activities and write an action plan for integrating HIV/AIDS with their human rights activities.
