HIV/AIDS Treatment and Adherence Goal: To assist participants in developing plans for assisting PWHA with treatment for HIV/AIDS and developing skills for increasing adherence to prescribed regimens. Objectives: · Identify the strengths and weaknesses for PWHA in taking and staying on highly active antiviral treatment (HAART). · Explain the Principles of Treatment and their significance to PWHA in their respective countries and regions. · Strategize ways to assist PWHA in developing the skills necessary for successful HAART treatment. · Develop skills in assisting PWHA with adherence to the medications using a modified directly observable therapy (mDOT) approach. · Identify alternatives to HAART by looking in-country for available resources. · Increase counseling skills of participants in addressing client's issues and concerns with treatment for HIV.
