Cicatelli
Associates Inc. (CAI) International provides training and technical
assistance to health care and social services providers and people living
with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) internationally and in New York. Most of the training
programs conducted internationally are training of trainers (TOT) format,
designed to increase knowledge and understanding of theoretical concepts
and advanced information on HIV/AIDS as well as the skills and tools
necessary to replicate trainings in participants’ home countries.
This methodology fosters training replication at the local level resulting
in a “multiplier effect” and sustainability.
Training programs
vary in length, generally from three to five days, depending on the
topic and participant needs. All programs are tailored to reflect local
needs and priorities. CAI recommends that TOT programs be at least five
days in length, in order to provide ample opportunity for participants
to learn and practice facilitation skills. CAI encourages participants
to modify and adapt curricula and training materials to more accurately
reflect the populations and communities they serve.
