About the Region II Infertility Prevention Project

The Region II Infertility Prevention Project is part of the National Infertility Prevention Project with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The project aims to prevent STD-related infertility through the collaborative efforts of federally funded Public Health Laboratories, Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinics, Family Planning (FP) Providers, and other healthcare providers throughout the 10 Department of Health and Human Services Regions.

The goal of the Region II Infertility Prevention Project (IPP) is to promote innovative, high quality, cost-effective approaches in the prevention of SID-related infertility, especially in adolescent girls and young adult women. It supports healthcare professionals while promoting science- and evidence-based standards in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of targeted chlamydia and gonorrhea screening programs throughout Region II (New York City, New York State and New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands).
