Prevention Project (IPP)
| The
Infertility Prevention Project (IPP), also known as
the Chlamydia Project, is a national demonstration project
funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) with funds obtained from Congress. The
Region II Infertility Prevention Project is a joint
effort between the federally funded STD and Family Planning
providers in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and
the U.S. Virgin Islands. The goal of the project is
to decrease the prevalence of chlamydial infection and
its sequelae through the establishment of efficient
systems for screening, diagnosis, and treatment of women
and their sex partners at risk.
Region
II received its initial funding in 1995 and just began
its ninth project year of delivering services. Region
II coordinates its efforts with nine other federally-funded
regions across the United States, all of whom share
information and strategies with each other for the best
result in the fight against chlamydia. |
